I generally approach relationship and marital therapy using the Gottman Technique, a highly researched and evidence-based model of therapy and relationships. If the theraputic focus warrents it I also draw on Dr. Schnarch's Passionate Marriage and Sexual Crucible models to aid in the development of enhanced communication and intimacy, as well as a variety of other techniques as needed.

I view each relationship or family as a living, organic unit made up of it's parts. I believe in not just looking at the family as a series of generations, but as a social network made up of it's members and everyone who is important to their lives, embedded in a variety of diverse social structures like employment or academics.

It should be noted that just because I work with a variety of sexual minorities, this does not mean that I accept, condone, or encourage any form of unnegotiated, non-consensual sexual activity. Infidelity, physical or emotional, is the most destructive force in relationships short of domestic violence, and the recovery of trust and confidence after an affair is one of the more challenging tasks a relationship can undergo.
